LAMMA (Lincolnshire Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association)

Began in January 1982 as a small agricultural machinery show dedicated to local manufacturers from the county.

The original founders of LAMMA included Roland Marshall, Bob Barber, Ray Larrington and Geoff Bottom. Mr Marshall was a machinery lecturer from Riseholme College and an established agricultural journalist. Mr Barber was head of machinery at Caythorpe College, Mr Larrington was a muck spreader and trailer manufacturer from Boston, and Geoff Bottom was the sales director of Witham Oil and Grease in Lincoln.

The show began at Lincolnshire Show Ground, with 50 exhibitors and around 2,500 visitors. The first show made a small profit, which encouraged the organisers to establish the LAMMA Show as an annual feature. As it grew, in 1997 Lamma moved to Newark showground for 18 years and then on to East of England Showground at Peterborough until 2019.

New beginnings: 2019

The show moved to the NEC in 2019 to provide more space and better facilities. The decision to move was led by exhibitor and visitor demand for a more comfortable/practical experience. Exhibitors and visitors embraced the warm weather-free environment.

Following the acquisition of LAMMA and Farmers Guardian from AgriBriefing (formerly Briefing Media) by Agriconnect in 2021, it is now held annually at the NEC Birmingham. LAMMA is a national institution, bringing together farmers, manufacturers, innovators and policymakers for two days of discovery, networking and business.

Onwards and upwards: 2026

Over 4 decades, LAMMA has evolved into the country’s largest and most influential exhibition for agricultural machinery, technology and equipment innovation.

A defining feature of LAMMA in recent years has been its evolution into a complete industry platform. The co-location with CropTec and Low Carbon Agriculture has transformed the event into a true one-stop-shop for agriculture.

The success of this strategy was evident at LAMMA 2026, a landmark year for the show. With more than 45,000 attendees and over 800 exhibitors, it achieved the highest attendance in its 44-year history.

Looking ahead: 2027

LAMMA 2027 (20–21 January) is set to build on this legacy. At its core, LAMMA continues to exist to connect the farming community with the very latest in agricultural technology and advancement. From major global brands unveiling flagship machinery to niche manufacturers introducing specialist solutions, the event provides a unique platform where innovation meets real-world application.

It is widely regarded as the essential British destination to see exclusive launches, UK debuts and the full breadth of modern farming technology, all under one roof.
