Future In Farming Zone

Tom Pemberton will proudly launch the Young British Farming Awards. Heading into it's 3rd year, the awards celebrate the passion, innovation and hard work of the next generation shaping UK agriculture. The launch will outline the aims of the awards, spotlight some of the 2025 winners and highlight why recognising emerging talent is vital for the future of British farming.  

In a year defined by rising costs, shifting policies and tighter margins, understanding the fundamentals of farm business resilience has never been more important. This session brings together practical experts to break down the key tools farmers can use right now to strengthen their financial position.  

This session will examine the importance of improving diversity within British farming, focusing on how the industry can become more accessible, inclusive and representative of the wider population. Panellists will discuss practical steps to break down barriers, widen entry routes and create a more welcoming culture for under-represented groups.  

A dedicated panel will explore how farming and food production could be integrated into the British school curriculum, highlighting the benefits of hands-on agricultural learning and greater awareness of where our food comes from. Speakers from across the sector will discuss how introducing pupils to farming can inspire future careers and strengthen the UK’s connection to its rural industries. The topic is especially timely as the Liberal Democrats have included farm and food education within their latest manifesto, signalling growing political momentum behind the idea. 

Beyond day-to-day pressures, every farm faces strategic choices that will shape its future for decades. This panel will explore the long-term decisions that build resilient, sustainable and profitable farm businesses.  

The Women in Food and Farming Network will be hosting a speed networking event. Bring your business cards for a quick fire networking round.
