With nearly ten years of dedicated service at Cadent, Phil has built a career in safety, engineering, and customer operations across the West Midlands region. Currently serving as Head of Safety and Engineering, he leads strategic initiatives to enhance operational safety and technical excellence across the network.
Phil is focused on supporting Cadent’s delivery of biomethane in the West Midlands and shaping the company’s position in the future of energy, helping drive innovation and sustainability across the energy sector.
Prior to this role, he held the position of Head of Safety and Assurance, where he oversaw compliance, risk management, and assurance frameworks, ensuring regulatory standards were met and exceeded. His leadership in this space laid the groundwork for continuous improvement and a strong safety culture.
Earlier in his career, Phil served as Customer Operations Area Manager, managing frontline service delivery and customer engagement. This followed a specialist role focused on multi-occupancy buildings, where he addressed complex network challenges and supported safe infrastructure upgrades.
His journey began as a Network Supervisor, responsible for the supervision of First Call Operatives responding to public- reported gas escapes, a role that demanded quick decision-making, technical knowledge, and a strong commitment to public safety.
Throughout his time at Cadent, Phil has demonstrated a consistent drive to improve safety standards, empower teams, and deliver reliable service to communities. His hybrid leadership style blends technical expertise with a people-first approach, making him a key figure in Cadent’s operational success.
