Farmer Huw Phillips shares his testimonial on Clipex fencing
A huge thanks to our customer, farmer Huw Phillips from North Wales, for sharing his testimonial on the newly installed Clipex fence at Penygelli Farm.
The farm has been performance-recording its closed Texel flock since 1980 and is officially recognised among the top 1% of Texel breeders in the country.
Run by Alwyn Phillips and his son Huw, the farm is home to 250 purebred, performance-recorded Texels, 200 pedigree Polled Dorsets, and a 35-head pedigree Limousin herd. Both sheep flocks have been part of an official MV-accredited health scheme since 1970 — a real mark of quality and good disease control.
They manage a highly efficient, grass-based system using daily paddock grazing, mobile weighing, and detailed performance recording.
Their forward-thinking approach has cut fertiliser use by 50% while boosting lamb growth and improving soil health — so investing in Clipex fencing was another smart decision from this top-tier farm.
For this fencing project, McVeigh Parker supplied Clipex posts, stock netting, and barbed wire — all professionally installed by Hugh Lloyd Davies of HLD Fencing.
Always flat-out busy on the farm, Huw still managed to grab a few photos of the new fence while out fertilising his silage field — now that’s proper Welsh farmer multitasking.
As you can see, Huw went for a double Clipex fence with electric posts and creosoted struts. The double line gives him space to plant new hedging next winter — a smart, future-ready setup.
Here’s what Huw had to say about choosing Clipex:
“𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 — 𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈. 𝑰’𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒆𝒙 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈.”
